Science courses are frequently the foundation courses for programs that lead to an A.A. or A.S. degree, or fulfill the general education requirement.

The Department offers a full range of courses in astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental studies, and horticulture.

Courses are delivered via multiple modalities: face-to-face (lecture and lab on campus), hybrid (lecture online, lab on campus), or online (lecture online, may have a virtual lab).

The Department's courses are designed to emphasize cross curriculum competencies. These include critical thinking, oral, written, and presentation skills, and quantitative skills. Independent thinking is very much encouraged, and on- and off- campus internships are available to interested students. Students are encouraged to participate in the Honors program, based on their GPA.

Our new academic curriculum map, if adhered to,  ensures that students can transfer to a 4-year institution as juniors. The college has transfer compacts and partnerships with many institutions. Some of our courses qualify for a completely online A.A. degree.
