Large Tuition Savings and Transer Options Under the State's Commonwealth Commitment

Information presented on Wednesday, November 15, 5:30pm, in the top floor Solarium of the Lorusso Building.

Commonwealth Commitment through MassTransfer

The academic pathway to a wide variety of bachelors degrees within the State's public colleges and universities, offered at a dramatic financial discount, is ready for more enrollees at Cape Cod Community College.

Massachusetts has made it even more affordable to complete the Bachelor’s Degree in a wide variety of subjects by starting at Cape Cod Community College and entering the Commonwealth Commitment (ComCom) program. Information on all of the options available at the state’s Colleges, Universities and UMass campuses, plus the great financial savings included, will be presented by the College’s Admissions and Transfer experts, Wednesday November 15th, starting at 5:30 p.m. in the top floor Solarium of the Lorusso Applied Technology Building. The best parking to attend this event is in the College’s Lots 9, 10 or 11.

Now in its second year, the program’s goal is to help students keep focused on college completion, while providing an outstanding education at the state’s 29 educational institutions. Majors are available in nearly all disciplines.

College officials will explain how students enter the program at CCCC and commit to complete the Associate Degree within 2.5 years. At that point they transfer to one of Massachusetts’ State Universities or UMass campuses and complete their Bachelor’s Degree within the next 2 more years. It is important that they maintain full time status, and a grade point average of 3.0 or better throughout the entire period they are in the program, up to 4.5 years.

The benefits of doing so are significant.

Upon entering the program, all tuition & mandatory fees are frozen at the community college’s entry level – for all four-plus years of the “ComCom” program. When the student transfers, they will pay the very same tuition and fees they paid the day they entered the program, reducing their total tuition & mandatory fees by an average of $5,090 over the four-plus years.

Students also receive a 10% rebate off tuition & mandatory fees, payable via check or bookstore voucher at the end of every successfully completed semester, plus there are additional MassTransfer tuition credits available, once the student enrolls in the transfer institution’s Bachelor’s Degree.

All of this will be explained in detail, and there will be plenty of time for questions. The College encourages current students, future students, family members and friends to attend this information session.
