Cape College Offers Info Session June 13, 2–4pm, for Quincy College Nursing Students Interested in Continuing Their Studies on the Cape

Quincy College Nursing students interested in continuing their studies in Cape Cod Community College’s (CCCC) fully accredited Nursing program, are invited to an information session, Wednesday June 13, 2:00–4:00pm in the upper floor Solarium of the Lorusso Applied Technology Building on the West Barnstable campus.

Mortarboard which reads: RN Be the Change 2018Barbara Murphy MSN, RN, CNE, Program Director for Nursing at CCCC will lead the session, joined by Director of Admissions Matt Cormier. The two will discuss the requirements for entry into the program, various pre-enrollment options students might have to complete pre-requisite courses, and what options might exist for the transfer of credits, based on what has already been completed at Quincy College. Adding to that discussion will be Nursing Student Advisor Mary “Mitzi” Anderson, and Alison Frisbie Coordinator of Advising and Counseling CCCC.

Last month, the State Board of Registration in Nursing voted to de-certify Quincy College’s Nursing program, withdrawing the ability of Quincy graduates to sit for state licensure after completing their course work at the College. Years of low student test scores on the state exam was given as the reason for the change in certification.

Quincy, per state regulation, has been working to help current students transfer into other state board approved programs. Cape Cod Community College has reached out to Quincy administrators, offering to assist, and this information is part of that effort.
