Dental Hygiene Faculty

Cindy Adelstei

 

Cindy Adelstein graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1990. She completed a general practice residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center before entering private practice in New Jersey. Dr. Adelstein moved to Cape Cod in 2017 where she practices dentistry at Mashpee Dental Associates. Her passion is helping patients who suffer from temporomandibular joint disorders and sleep apnea. She joined the faculty at CCCC in 2019 and is a clinic dentist in freshman clinic.


Arlene Alves

Arlene Alves graduated from Bristol Community College with an Associate in Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from UMass Dartmouth and a Master of Education from Eastern Nazarene College. Ms. Alves has been a registered dental hygienist for 20 years in both a pediatric and general practice. She also holds a local anesthesia permit L. Ms. Alves is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard.  She formerly taught in the dental hygiene programs at BCC and Mount Ida College before joining CCCC in 2018. She has experience teaching freshman pre-clinic, freshman clinic, sophomore clinic, radiology and dental materials.  Her current teaching responsibilities include Radiology, Community Dental Health and facilitating extramural rotations.


Dr. Nicole Balthazar

Nicole Balthazar graduated from Tuft's University School of Dental Medicine with a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1998. She completed a general practice residency at Berkshire Medical Center, served as clinical faculty at NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine Program, and is in private practice in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Dr. Balthazar joined the faculty at CCCC as an adjunct in 2000, and teaches in the Pain Management/local anesthesia lab. She also teaches in the clinical portion of the CCCC local anesthesia course for graduate hygienists. Dr. Balthazar is a member of ADA, MDS, and Cape Cod District Dental Society.


Kathleen Bell Szabo

Kathleen Bell Szabo graduated from CCCC with an A.S. degree in Dental Hygiene. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Bay Path College and a Master’s degree in Dental Hygiene Education from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Ms. Bell Szabo is a Registered Dental Hygienist and holds a Local Anesthesia Permit L. Ms. Bell Szabo has been a clinical faculty instructor in dental hygiene education for over 6 years and joined the faculty at CCCC in 2015 where she teaches Oral Tissues I, Oral Pathology and sophomore clinic. Ms. Bell Szabo continues to work in private practice and is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association.


Karen Burns

Karen Burns graduated from the Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists/Northeastern University with an Associate in Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University and is certified in the administration of local anesthesia. Ms. Burns has been a clinical faculty instructor in dental hygiene education for over 15 years, joining the CCCC faculty in the fall of 2007. Ms. Burns is an instructor in freshmen clinic.


Marianne Dryer is a graduate of the Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University and a Master of Education degree from St. Joseph's College of Maine. She taught at Collin County Community College in Dallas, Texas before joining the faculty at Cape Cod Community College in 2007. Mrs. Dryer assumed the position of Program Director in the fall of 2019. She is a Registered Dental Hygienist and holds a Local Anesthesia Permit L. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association and the American Dental Education Association.


 

 


Christine Fontana

Christine Fontana graduated from CCCC with an Associate in Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and a Master of Education degree from Cambridge College. Ms. Fontana is a Registered Dental Hygienist, holds a Local Anesthesia Permit L, and a Permit M to practice as a Portable Dental Operator, Public Health Dental Hygienist in the state of Massachusetts. Ms. Fontana joined the faculty at CCCC in 2015 and currently is the Freshmen Clinic Facilitator. Prior to CCCC, she served as an Associate Professor and faculty for over 10 years in dental hygiene education. Ms. Fontana continues to work in private practice and is a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association.


Veronica Gaiser

Veronica Gaiser received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and microbiology from Rutgers University in 1987, and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1991. She has 25 years of experience in general/family dentistry, including geriatric and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Gaiser practices dentistry as part of Stetson Dental in Weymouth. At CCCC, Dr. Gaiser is a clinic dentist in sophomore clinic.


Jennifer Hennessy

Jennifer Hennessy is an alumnus of the CCCC Dental Hygiene Program. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Management from Northeastern University and a Master of Education in Instructional Design from UMASS Boston. Ms. Hennessy has practiced dental hygiene on Cape Cod for over 20 years. She formerly taught at MCPHS University’s Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene in Boston before joining CCCC as an adjunct faculty member in 2015. She has experience teaching Oral Pathology and Periodontics, and assumed the position of Sophomore Clinic Facilitator in the Fall of 2016. Ms. Hennessy is a Registered Dental Hygienist, and holds a Permit L for local anesthesia in Massachusetts. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association.


Renee Horton

Renee Horton is a graduate of Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists/Northeastern University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pediatric and Handicapped Dental Hygiene from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She earned a Certification in Local Anesthesia from Mount Ida College in 2007. Ms. Horton has more than 25 years of clinical experience in private practice dental hygiene. Ms. Horton was a sophomore clinical instructor at Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene/MCPHS before joining the CCCC faculty in 2015. She is adjunct faculty at Bristol Community College where she is an instructor in radiology lab, pre-clinic and freshman clinic. At CCCC she currently is a radiology lab instructor.


Dana Jones

Dana Jones has been in the dental field for 19 years, including 11 years as a dental hygienist. Ms. Jones graduated from Mount Ida College with an Associate in Arts degree in Dental Hygiene in 2007 and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts  degree in 2008. She currently practices as a community health center clinical hygienist, and works in Boston public and charter schools as a Public Health Dental Hygienist, facilitating oral health groups for grades K-12. Ms. Jones holds a Permit L local anesthesia certification. Ms. Jones joined the CCCC faculty in 2018 as a clinical instructor in sophomore clinic.


Melissa Leite

Melissa Leite graduated from the Dental Hygiene Program at Bristol Community College with an Associate in Science degree in Dental Hygiene and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Vermont Technical College. In addition, Ms. Leite is a Certified Dental Assistant, has a Permit M to practice as a Portable Dental Operator, is a Public Health Dental Hygienist, and is certified in the administration of local anesthesia. Ms. Leite completed the Community Dental Health Coordinator certificate from Rio Salado College in 2018, and is an instructor in Clinical Dental Hygiene I and II, and a laboratory instructor in Dental Materials.


Elaine Hopkins Madden

Elaine Hopkins Madden graduated from the Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists/Northeastern University with an A.S. degree in Dental Hygiene. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Northeastern University and a Master of Education degree from Bridgewater State College. Ms. Madden began her teaching career at CCCC in 1985. She served as Dental Hygiene Program Coordinator from 2004 until 2016, and as Director of Dental Hygiene from 2016 until 2019. Ms. Madden is a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association and the American Dental Education Association.


Monique Migneault received an Associate in Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Cape Cod Community College in 2017, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Mount Ida College in 2018. She currently practices clinical dental hygiene in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Additionally, she has 8 years of experience as a Licensed Dental Assistant. Ms. Migneault joined the CCCC faculty in 2018 as a clinical instructor in sophomore clinic.


Denise Parker-Bridges

Denise Parker-Bridges is a graduate of the Dental Hygiene Program at CCCC, and earned a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from Suffolk University in 2004. She completed her training as a Massachusetts Public Health Hygienist in 2010 and completed the Community Dental Health Coordinator certificate from Rio Salado College in 2018. Ms. Parker-Bridges has been an instructor in the Dental Hygiene Program for many years, and in 2018 joined the College full-time as the administartive assistant for the Dental Hygiene Program. In addition, she teaches local anesthesia to second year dental hygiene students and to practicing dental hygienists.


Victoria Rice

Victoria Rice graduated from the CCCC Dental Hygiene Program with an Associate in Science degree in 2001 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2015. She currently practices in a general dentistry office. Ms. Rice joined the CCCC faculty as an adjunct in the fall of 2008 and teaches in freshmen clinic.


Lauren Rowan

Lauren Rowan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She currently practices as a clinical hygienist in general dentistry, pediatric and special needs dentistry. Ms. Rowan facilitated instrumentation programs at UNC and NYU before joining the CCCC faculty in 2016 as a clinical instructor in freshman clinic.


  

Kristin Sareault

Kristin Sareault graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1997. She served 21 years on active duty with the United Stated Public Health Service, with most of her years detailed to the United States Coast Guard. She joined the faculty at CCCC in 2019 and is a clinic dentist in freshman clinic.


Peter SmithPeter Smith graduated from dental school with a Doctor of Dental Surgery. Dr. Smith teaches local anesthesia lab to sophomore students in the fall semester and Pharmacology for Dental Hygiene to first year students in the spring semester.

 Lee Somerville

Lee Somerville graduated from the Dental Hygiene Program at CCCC with an Associate in Science degree, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Northeastern University. She received a Master of Science degree in Dental Public Health from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry. She has over 30 years of experience in private practice. Ms. Somerville joined the CCCC faculty as an adjunct in 1986, has taught didactic and clinical courses, and currently teaches in freshmen clinic and sophomore extramural clinic. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association, the American Dental Education Association, and the American Academy of Dental Hygiene. 


Sarah Wilhelmsen

Sarah Wilhelmsen earned an Associate in Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Tunxis Community College, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Northern Arizona University. She completed a Master of Public Health degree from Southern New Hampshire University in 2019. She has over 9 years of clinical experience in private practice, and is a clinical instructor at MCPHS and CCCC. Ms. Wilhelmsen is a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association. Ms. Wilhelmsen joined the CCCC faculty in 2016 and is an instructor in sophomore clinic.  


Paulette Zaniboni

Paulette Zaniboni graduated from the Dental Hygiene Program at CCCC with an Associate in Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Curry College. Ms. Zaniboni has over 18 years of experience in dental hygiene private practice and holds a Local Anesthesia Permit L. She is a clinical instructor at MCPHS and at Cape Cod Community College. At CCCC, Ms. Zaniboni teaches in freshmen and sophomore clinics, radiology lab, and local anesthesia lab. Her experiences include development of periodontal therapy and maintenance programs, and working with special needs patients.
