Resume – a brief account of a person's education, qualifications, and previous experience, typically sent with a job application.

Having an updated resume or a resume at all is an important first step in career planning. Whether you're applying for a job or applying to a four-year school, it helps to have your education, qualifications, experiences, etc. organized.

There are several ways to format your resume:

  • Chronological – work experience listed in reverse chronological order; lots of different industries and levels of experience>
  • Functional – best suited for those changing careers or who have transferrable skills and unrelated experience
  • Hybrid – blended format

Career Exploration
Not sure what you want to do? We can help with that too! Exploring different majors and careers is an important step and the process of choosing a career path. Here are some tools to help get you started!

Jung Typology Test – This assessment is based on the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory. By taking this FREE assessment, you will obtain your personality type, communication and learning style, as well as a list of careers that are potentially suitable for your personality type. These results are not set in stone by any means; however, if you're feeling lost or have no idea which direction to go in, this would be a great place to start!

The Focus is a career, major, and education planning system. Based on the answers you provide, your results are matched to career options and majors/programs here at 4C's! This information helps you to make an informed decision about choosing a major or career. Results for the FOCUS include things like educational requirements for particular careers, job duties, job outlook and trends, advancement opportunities, and salaries.

Before taking the FOCUS, see Katie or your advisor for the access code; then follow this link: FOCUS Portal to register. Be sure to share your results with your advisor!
