Aviation Maintenance Technology

A Program Designed for You – Fully FAA Certified!

The Aviation Maintenance Technology program will prepare you for FAA Certification, and lay the foundation for an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Aviation Maintenance, and transfer into a variety of four-year programs.

Aviation maintenance technicians (AMT’s) are the professionals who fix and maintain aircraft. AMT’s repair and service nearly every part and system of an aircraft, including landing gear, aircraft structure and engine systems. AMT’s are also called A&P mechanics because of their airframe and power plant certifications. AMT’s are in high demand and make a higher return on their education investment than pilots, doctors and lawyers.

Information Sessions

Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) Information Sessions are required for all applicants to this program. The AMT Program Director and Admissions Counselor will share up-to-date information about the program and answer questions about the curriculum and the admissions process. One-hour tour sessions include a 20-minute program overview and a 40-minute guided tour of the training facility. Face masks are required within the facility.

This unique airplane maintenance training program meets a critical need for highly skilled technicians in airframe and power plant repair and certification.

National, regional, and local airlines including Jet Blue, Cape Air, and the U.S. Coast Guard are providing strong support, and are waiting for graduates to start filling critical needs in numerous sectors of the aviation industry where major shortages of highly skilled technicians exist now, and are expected to continue for many years to come.

This program is one of the few training centers on the Eastern Seaboard supporting the airline industry and only the second in Massachusetts offering certification in both Airframe Structures and Power Plant Theory and Maintenance. This program creates a pathway for a career with significant advancement potential.

Aviation Maintenance Technology Certificates

The Aviation Maintenance Technology program provides you with knowledge and skills necessary for a career working on aviation systems and aircraft throughout the United States. Highly qualified instructors help prepare students for the FAA airframe and powerplant exam leading to certification in General Airframe and Powerplant maintenance. Instruction includes both theory and hands-on practical projects.

Aviation Maintenance Technology Degree Program

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Aviation Maintenance builds on the General Airframe and Powerplant maintenance certification program or the experience of practicing aircraft technicians. Students combine certification courses with general academic credit courses to earn their AAS Degree.

Housing is available at Bridgewater State University

4Cs Aviation students housed at BSU have access to:

  • All common area kitchen, lounge and recreation spaces within the assigned residence hall.
  • All programs and activities offered by the residence hall staff within the assigned residence hall.
  • Parking in resident student parking lots.
  • Services provided by Counseling and Health Services.
  • All BSU facilities, including the library and fitness facilities.
