Hemant teaches microbiology, cell biology, and public health. Joined the faculty full time in 1999. He was previously Director of Biotechnology at a biotech company in Woburn, and a Visiting Scientist at the Hokkaido Fisheries Institute in Japan. He was also an Investigator at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole. During 1992-1995, he taught the microbiology course at CCCC as an adjunct. Before coming to the U.S., he taught microbiology and molecular biology in India.
His outside interests include archaeology, history of science and technology, anthropology, Indian and western classical music, jazz and blues.
