Cape Cod Community College invites community members to study abroad in the Dominican Republic
March 11, 2019
Cape Cod Community College is partnering with Education First College Study Tours to offer an 8-day trip to the Dominican Republic next year, and members of the Cape and Islands communities are welcome to join. As incentive to register early, anybody who enrolls before March 31 is eligible for a $250 scholarship.
The trip will run from May 25–June 1, 2020 and costs $3,645 per person, which includes all aspects of travel, including airfare, hotels, meals, entrance tickets, train, tour guides, and insurance.
During this trip, guests will learn the wonders of marine life, and what can be done to help preserve it. Among the topics that will be addressed are the effects of overfishing, tourism, and climate change on coral reef in the Caribbean. After gaining an educational foundation, guests will work together with community members to collect fragments of naturally broken coral and transplant them back into the reef as a way to preserve the ecosystem.
