This is a 1.5 hour long course intended to teach the lay person how to recognize a choking victim; and to respond using Abdominal Thrust (aka Heimlich Maneuver). Writing in the Workplace (WPG066-63)

This developmental writing course is for your employees who need to improve their ability to express themselves in writing and to accomplish common writing tasks within the workplace. Basic principles of spelling, punctuation, usage, sentence structure, paragraph and business correspondence are stressed. The course is designed to build an employee’s confidence in his or her capability to revise and edit their own writing, emphasizing the employee’s ability to spot common errors in Standard American English and to relearn rules of writing to avoid these mistakes in the future.

QuickBooks Online Essentials contains all the features and tools that a small business, or even a contractor, would need to keep track of vendors, customers, and financial accounts. You can pay bills using QuickBooks Online Essentials, prepare payroll, and even print checks. However, to do things such as prepare budgets, keep track of employee time, and create purchase orders, you would need to upgrade your account and pay a higher monthly fee. The online version does not provide the inventory capabilities that its desktop counterpart does, the same capabilities that make the desktop version perfect for even larger companies.

This course was designed for the beginning or intermediate user of QuickBooks Online Essentials. The purpose of this course is to teach you how to successfully navigate and use QuickBooks Online Essentials as your business' accounting software. However, it's also useful for those who have used previous versions of QuickBooks and want to learn about new layouts or features.

You'll learn how to use all the features of QuickBooks Online Essentials including:

  • Setting up your company in QuickBooks
  • Creating customer, vendor, and employee lists
  • Managing payroll in QuickBooks Online Essentials
  • Creating and tracking invoices
  • Paying Bills
  • Writing checks in QuickBooks Online Essentials

Local Anesthesia Certificate (WHD002-67)
ONLINE 6/20/15 – 7/31/15

This course consists of 11 hours of online pre-study for the licensed dental hygienist. The course covers MA Rules and Regulations 234 CMR 3.09-3.14, and its requirements in the administration of local dental anesthetics. This course contains tests and exercises that must be completed prior to attending the onsite lecture and clinical lab that follow this course. Moodle log-in information and instructions for this online portion will be sent to student after registration.

Local Anesthesia Certificate Clinical Lab (WHD002L-67)
Saturday/Sunday 8/1/15, 8/2/15, 8/8/15, 8:00am–5:00pm
Location: Main Campus, 2240 Iyannough Road, West Barnstable

This is the clinical lab portion of the Local Anesthesia Certificate course. The online portion of this course (WHD002-67) must be completed prior to the lab. This course is for the licensed dental hygienist and consists of a didactic and a clinical component of 12 hours each. This course covers MA Rules and Regulations 234 CMR 3.09-3.14, and its requirements in the administration of local dental anesthetics. Attendance is required at all sessions. Prerequisite: WHD002-67. Students can only register for this certificate clinic lab by contacting the instructor.

In this course students will learn the secrets to engaging their audience be it at a meeting, conducting a workshop or presenting at the office. They will learn how to tap into how people receive information, the characteristics of adult learners and techniques so they don't have to do all the talking. Students will also learn about the different roles a presenter can take, how to conduct activities, how to develop participation, how to give feedback to participants, how to keep your presentation on time and how to ask questions that inspire discussion. During the workshop students will have a chance to practice their skills. At the end of the session, all students will do a short 10 minute presentation from materials presented ahead of time. WordPress has come a very long way as a fully integrated shopping cart system, and there are so many options available once you decide that you want to sell something from your website. In this class we will look at a few different types of WordPress plugins for shopping carts and what you need to know to decide on your best shopping cart solution.
