Dr. Kathleen Schatzberg
President
Cape Cod Community College
Dr. Kathleen Schatzberg has served as president of Cape Cod Community College for eleven years. Her career includes nearly 30 years as an administrator and faculty member in community colleges in New York and Minnesota, as well as earlier positions as a teacher of English and reading in urban, suburban and rural public secondary schools. She has also worked in the private sector in the fields of market research and microform data storage.
She currently serves on many boards: Cape Cod Business Roundtable; the Workforce Investment Board, Arts Foundation of Cape Cod; Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation Board; Leadership Council Steering Committee of the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment; and the Pastoral Council of her church. She was the 2004–05 chair of the Massachusetts Community College President's Council and served as co-chair of Governor Romney's Regional Competitiveness Council for the Cape & Islands. She belongs to local chapters of the NAACP, the League of Women Voters, the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, and the Fellowship of Reconciliation. She has a lifelong commitment to human rights and equity work.
In her leisure time, she enjoys cooking, music, theater, traveling, walking, playing computer games, watching Star Trek and Jeopardy, and of course, reading. Aside from professional publications, she enjoys feminist science fiction and books on spirituality. She relishes driving trips that wander serendipitously on the old 2-lane highways, and of course, walking the beaches of Cape Cod. She lives in Centerville with her dog Ted E. Bear, a "57-varieties" pup.
Candy M. Center
Dean
Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Business
Candy M. Center is the Dean/Academic and Student Affairs/Science, Technology, Mathematics and Business. Candy comes to us with over twenty years of teaching and administrative experience in higher education, fifteen of which have been devoted to community colleges in Massachusetts. She has served as a full-time faculty member, department chair, Learning Communities Coordinator and Director of Distance Learning at Bristol Community College and comes to us from Massasoit Community College where she spent the last four years serving as the Dean of e-Learning and Non-Traditional Programs.
Candy has served in several roles in Massachusetts Colleges Online (MCO) including Academic Program Administrator, Campus Liaison and Member of the Best Practices Conference Planning Committee. Candy has been instrumental in the development of statewide professional development opportunities for faculty in the area of pedagogy and online education.
Candy has authored several articles and authored a public speaking text with her students, Public Speaking Through Storytelling: Voices of Diversity. Candy has presented regionally and nationally in the areas of public speaking, communication, learning communities, and online education. In March 2008, the Sloan Consortium invited Candy to serve as the lead facilitator the their inaugural online workshop series focusing primarily on community colleges and online education.
Candy serves as a member of the Executive Board for the Massachusetts chapter of the American Council of Education National Network of Women Leaders in Higher Education and also serves the organization as the Communications Chair for the organization.
Candy earned her B.A. from Oklahoma Christian College in Speech and her M.A. and her Ph.D. coursework (ABD) from the University of Oklahoma in Communication.
Cynthia A. Crossman
Assistant Vice President Administration and Finance
Cynthia A. Crossman has been with Cape Cod Community College since 2001. Cynthia grew up in Orleans, MA and graduated from Nauset Regional High School. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Babson College earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Economics. She has worked in the accounting field for over sixteen years as an auditor for Ernst & Young, LLP and as a Controller for a non-profit agency before joining CCCC.
During her time at CCCC, Cynthia has held leadership positions on many committees including co-chairing the NEASC accreditation process. She graduated from the Massachusetts Community College Leadership Academy in 2004 and attended the College Business Management Institute at the University of Kentucky. Cynthia has performed business reviews for other community colleges and has been a presenter for NEASC.
Lore Loftfield DeBower
Dean
Arts and Humanities
Lore Loftfield DeBower has taught French and Humanities at Cape Cod Community College for 35 years. She earned a BA in French and Comparative Literature at the University of New Mexico, an MA in French Literature at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a Ph.D. in Medieval French Women's Studies at the Five College Cooperative (University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Amherst College, Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, and Hampshire College). She served the Department of Language and Literature as chair for many years before accepting the position of Interim Dean of Arts and Sciences.
Lore is a church musician, organist, choir director, and regular performer in baroque and renaissance ensembles. She directs the Falmouth based Solstice Singers. She is a volunteer leader in the Academy for Lifelong Learning and hosts the Tuesday afternoon Foreign Film Series at Cape Cod Community College.
Lore is committed to working for peace and justice in our world.
Susan Miller
Dean
Health Sciences, Social Sciences, and Human Services
Susan Miller has served Cape Cod Community College for more than twenty years first as a Professor of Nursing and since 2002, as an Associate Academic Dean. Currently, Dean Miller works with faculty and staff in the Division of Business, Health Science, Social Science and Human Services. Working with an expert and caring faculty and professional staff on new program development, curriculum work, assessment of student learning, and student success are identified by Dean Miller as the most energizing aspects of her role.
Dean Miller received a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Niagara University, a Masters Degree in Community Mental-Health Nursing from Boston College and is currently enrolled in the Doctoral Program in Higher Education Administration at UMASS Boston.
Dean Miller is a member of the Rotary Club of Bourne-Sandwich and the Board of Directors of the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands.
Roseanna Pena-Warfield

Enrollment Management & Advising Services
Roseanna Pena-Warfield has been a valued member of Cape Cod Community College for 16 years. Dean Warfield began her tenure at CCCC as an academic & personal counselor. In addition to a full counseling caseload, Rose taught 'Race, Class and Culture in the United States' and also found the time to serve as Advisement Coordinator, helping to develop the first on-line advising and tracking system at CCCC for faculty, administrators and staff.
After almost ten years as a counselor, Roseanna accepted the position of Assistant Dean of Student Support Services. Her position has since been upgraded to Associate Dean of Enrollment Management & Student Development. She ensures that Admissions, Assessment, Financial Aid, Health Services, the Hyannis Center, the Life Fitness Center, Registration and the Student Development Office run smoothly.
Roseanna graduated from Harwich High School and attended CCCC briefly before transferring to Lincoln University in Philadelphia. She exhibited her leadership and facilitating skills early on as a Resident Advisor in the dormitories at Lincoln. In 1974, Roseanna earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Psychology. Roseanna's next stop was the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she was accepted into their Masters Degree program in Educational Administration. She continued to enjoy her studies while acting as a Residence Director, managing housing and helping to resolve dormitory life issues for one thousand undergrads. Summers were spent counseling students in the College Now and Upward Bound programs at Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMASS-Dartmouth). In 1983, Roseanna was the proud recipient of a M.Ed. degree. Dean Warfield also graduated from the Massachusetts Community College Leadership Academy 2004–2005.
Rose continued on to Fitchburg State College where she served as the Director of Minority Affairs and Alternatives for Individual Development. She was responsible for planning educational programs for minority and non-traditional students.
Dean Warfield was a Past President of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands, and is currently a member of their Advisory Board. She also served on the Independence House Executive Hiring Committee.
