Cape Cod Community College Television

What is 4C's TV?

The Cape Cod Community College educational access channel broadcast on cable channel 98. We are available in Barnstable, Chatham, Dennis, Harwich, Mashpee, Provincetown, Truro and Yarmouth.

Why are you not available in my town?

Each town negotiates a long-term contract with a cable provider. During negotiations, PEG (public-educational-government) access channels are agreed upon. We are available in those towns that asked for us during the last negotiations, which were about 10 years ago.

How can I see Channel 98 in my town?

If you would like to see the college channel as part of your cable line up, you should contact your local cable advisory board and let them know. Most Cape towns are beginning the renegotiation process this year or next. We will also be contacting each Cape town ourselves, so we'd appreciate your support.

What kind of programming do you air?

We are working hard to showcase many of the exciting events on campus. Many of the events on campus including Lowell Lectures, Multicultural Festival, and guest speakers are taped and rebroadcast. We also tape guest speakers, special events and workshops held on campus, including Wednesday Learning with Lunch Workshops.

However, because our resources are limited, we supplement our schedule with the Classic Arts Channel during the day and later in the evening. In addition to our original programming and the Classic Arts, we run a PowerPoint bulletin board (averaging 80 slides) with information about the activities, courses and resources we offer.

What is the future for Channel 98?

Right now we are working with Comcast to improve signal quality. Also we will be upgrading our satellite system in order to offer more programming such as NASA, the Research Channel and the Pentagon Channel. We are continuously striving to tape more campus events to show on the channel.
