 College Connection New Members
Four More High Schools Join College Connection,
BringingTotal to Nine

Beginning in September, the pathway to higher education for seniors at nine area high schools will be even clearer as they participate in College Connection. Four new members to College Connection were welcomed Monday June 1, 2009. New participants: Chatham, Harwich, Nauset and Cape Cod Regional Technical high schools; join with Barnstable, Dennis-Yarmouth, Bourne, Falmouth and Upper Cape Regional Tech. The college entrance assistance program, now in its third year, brings professionals from Cape Cod Community College directly into the high schools to demystify the world of higher education, and to assist seniors and their families in completing the application and entrance process, no matter where they hope to attend.

"Plus50" Leadership Brings International Conference Opportunity

The College's leadership in serving the "Plus50" learner was again shared recently as Dean Susan Miller (center) joined Christine R. Donnolo, Associate Dean of Continuing Education, Workforce and Community Development, Luzerne Community College (at the podium); and Mary Sue Vickers, (left) Director, Plus 50 Initiative, American Association of Community Colleges; in presenting at the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development's (NISOD)  International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in Austin TX. Presenting: Is Your Campus Ready for the Plus 50 Learner, the team focused on the importance of developmentally appropriate advising and academic support services, and community collaborations in outreach to "Boomers." CCCC is one of five colleges selected nationwide by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to mentor others as we continue to grow our own services to 'seasoned' learners.

Very early into the Spring semester, the unthinkable happened.
