The William Brewster Nickerson Cape Cod History Archives
THE NICKERSON CAPE COD COLLECTION
A LEGACY FOR SCHOLARS

William Brewster Nickerson   E. Carleton Nickerson
The Nickerson Room is named in memory of William Brewster Nickerson, a young Naval Air Force Lieutenant,
killed over Vietnam in 1966.
William was the son of College President
E. Carleton Nickerson, who served as President of Cape Cod Community College from 1964 to 1972.
A Chatham native, E. Carleton Nickerson led the College in planning and establishing the present campus; the first community college in the state ever to build a new campus.
Nickerson was respected and loved by faculty and students alike. One former student commented that Mr. Nickerson was "Like a father; if you had a problem, he would take you right into his office, put his hand on your shoulder, and calm you down."

The Nickerson Cape Cod History Archive is the only resource dedicated to serving the research needs of students and scholars in the history and culture of Cape Cod in its entirety. Used heavily by writers, historians and genealogists, the archive includes unique and rare deeds, manuscripts and personal papers, genealogical resources, historic photos and images, and various artifacts, notably scrimshaw. The archive also preserves the works of Cape Cod authors, artists, playwrights, poets and historians.
