Generations
an exhibit in conjunction with Women Creating,
the Cape wide celebration of women in the Arts.
Through April 7, 2000

Gallery Hours:
10:00AM - 4:00pm

This is the fourth year that the Higgins Art
Gallery at Cod Community College has been a
showcase for women artists and we are very
pleased to have participation of a very high
caliber of artists working in a variety of
mediums. This year?s exhibit is sponsored by
a grant from Cape Cod Five.

This selected group of women artists has been
chosen for a variety of reasons. The creation of
art may be nurtured by those around us in our
families. The creative spirit may be inherited or
shared within a family, or family members may have
provided role models to these artists. It is the
thread of continuity and family identity that forms
the focus of this exhibit. The theme Generations
will include artists and their women family members,
for example mothers and daughters, grandmothers,
great-grandmothers or sisters. The artists are
painters, sculptors, pastel artists, and potters.
Speaking about her grandparents and fathers
influence, Tina Holl remarks "They spent their lives
devoted to their art. I soon realized that I also
wanted to live my life that way. My father taught
me not only the craft but the way of life of an
artist."
