LExICON – The Art of Bailey Bob BaileyJanuary 28 – February 28, 2009 Provincetown artist Bailey Bob Bailey is a context collector. He collects objects and recalls the light; he gathers words and notes that text itself has form. Higgins Art Gallery presents LExICON, an exhibition of his sculptures and drawings. A play on the words “Lexicon” and “Le Icon,” LExICON is about form and language, two major elements of Bailey’s body of work and a dictionary, of sorts, of the way he makes art. |
Soap Box Prints: For a Cleaner EnvironmentNovember 12 – December 12, 2008 Studies of the environment are featured in an open portfolio exhibition of prints, paperwork and artists' books. The theme is interpreted broadly to include landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, conservation and preservation, global warming, genetic diversity, endangered species and more. The exhibition is organized by the American Print Alliance, a consortium of non-profit printmakers' councils in the United States and Canada, and has been traveling for the past year, showing in North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. |
... In A FlashOctober 9 – November 7, 2008 Explore the work, inspiration and studio environment of artist in residence Anne Flash in this unique installation. Flash works with colors that are bold and images that run from very tiny to huge. Her primary mediums are oil and pastel on paper and wood. The images stretch – sometimes over 8 feet – and invite the viewer to move and scan and respond to the artwork as a series of moments or singular statement. |
