1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application is for all federal, state, and college grants, work study, and loans. For processing, apply on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Beginning January 2008 (FAFSA year 2008-2009), if you are unable to process your FAFSA on-line, please call the FAFSA Processing Center at 800-433-3243 and ask for a paper FAFSA to be mailed to you.  Una solicitud de FASFA en español está disponible en este lugar de Internet.
   
   
2. Apply on-line or mail the form by April 1, 2008. We accept applications after this date, but you may need to pay your tuition up front and wait for your financial aid to reimburse you. It may take up to six weeks to process your application. If you will be starting school in January 2009, complete the form by November 1, 2008.
   
   
3. Read the on-line instruction carefully.  The numbered questions often have an explanation in the booklet. Even though the question may seem obvious, the instructions will help ensure you answer correctly.  It is recommended that you print out the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet and complete it before you attempt to apply on-line. 4.  If processing a paper FAFSA, use a pencil. If you make a mistake, erase the error and rewrite the correct answer.
   
   
5.  Do not write in the margins. Write only in the spaces provided for your answers. 
   
   
6. Do not leave any blanks. If the answer is zero, write in a "0" rather than skipping the question.  Blanks delay the processing of your application.
   
   
7. List the school code. Cape Cod Community College's Title IV school code is 002168.
   
   
8. Do not mail any other documents with your FAFSA. The processing center destroys any tax forms, letters, or other documents you include in the envelope with your FAFSA. 

AFTER APPLYING -- WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

1.        You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) approximately a month after mailing your FAFSA (or you will receive it by e-mail if possible). Make sure Cape Cod Community College is listed as one of the schools receiving the information. If it is, the Financial Aid Office will receive your application.

2.        If you need to correct your SAR or if you need to add Cape Cod Community College to the school list, you may do it on-line, by mail, or at the Financial Aid Office.

3.        The Financial Aid Office may request additional information from you. Please respond promptly in order to complete your file.

4.        Once your file is complete, the Financial Aid Office will provide you with an award letter. This letter will inform you of how much and what type of assistance you will receive.

5.        If you have any questions regarding financial aid, please call or stop by the Financial Aid Office. You may also schedule an appointment to meet with a financial aid counselor.
