A Message from the President
| Welcome to January, 2008 Professional Day! This year, we will devote the morning of the day to our strategic planning process toward the goal of a new CCCC Strategic Plan that we can all embrace as our guide for the coming five years. In particular, we want to use this day to hear from our community.
It will be our day to listen. We have a deep understanding of community college mission, as well as many ideas about how to live that mission within our individual programs and disciplines. However, we need to meld our knowledge of students, learning, programming and academic fields with the practical knowledge that leaders in our community bring to the process.
To that end, we’ve invited more than 200 community leaders - members of our advisory committees, Foundation Board, trustees, legislators, business owners and managers, and leaders of non-profit organizations representing a broad spectrum of our external community - government, K-12 schools, arts and culture organizations, health and human services providers; and businesses in hospitality, science, technology, financial services and many more.
The keynote speaker, Peter Francese, will give us his analysis of our enrollment demographics and program offering in light of broader, region-wide demographic and economic trends. Following his presentation, we will ask all our invited guests to meet with us in smaller groups for listening sessions – so that we can gather their input and perspectives, in light of Peter Francese’s remarks and their own experience, on what the College should be doing in the coming five years to better serve the higher education needs of our community.
I look forward to seeing all of you there!
