Dental Hygiene Faculty
Dr. Nicole Balthazar graduated from Tuft's University School of Dental Medicine in 1998. She completed a general practice residency at Berkshire Medical Center and is in private practice in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Dr. Balthazar joined the faculty at CCCC as an adjunct in 2000, and teaches in the second year sealant clinic. She also teaches in the clinical portion of the CCCC local anesthesia course for graduate hygienists. Dr. Balthazar is a member of ADA, MDS, and CCDDS. |
Karen Burns graduated from the Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists / Northeastern University with an A.S. degree in Dental Hygiene in 1975. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University and is certified in the administration of local anesthesia. Ms. Burns taught first and second year clinic at Bristol Community College before joining the CCCC faculty in fall of 2007. Ms. Burns currently teaches freshmen radiology lab. |
Mary Donohue graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at CCCC in 2007 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science from Bridgewater State College. She currently practices in a general dentistry office, and joined the CCCC faculty as an adjunct in the fall of 2008. She is certified in the administration of local anesthesia and teaches second year students in the local anesthesia clinic. |
Marianne Dryer is a graduate of the Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists, Old Dominion University and is currently working on her Master's degree in Education from St. Joseph's College of Maine. She was the first year coordinator at Collin County Community College in Dallas, Texas for six years where she was selected for the outstanding faculty award and was nominated for the advisor of the year award by her former students. Mrs. Dryer joined the faculty at CCCC in 2007. She is active in the local and state dental hygiene organizations. She teaches Dental Hygiene III and is an instructor in first year clinic. |
Dr Paul Fasano graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1972. He completed a post-graduate certification program in Aesthetic Dentistry at the University of Buffalo Dental School in 1998. Dr. Fasano is currently licensed in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and New Hampshire. He has 24 years private practice dental experience, and has served as a staff dentist at several health centers. He joined the CCCC faculty as a sophomore clinical instructor in 1998 and teaches the Dental Materials and Oral Pathology courses. In addition, he is a clinical instructor in the local anesthesia lab. |
Christine Huggins received her Associates in Arts degree in Dental Hygiene from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1971 and has practiced dental hygiene in general dentistry settings in both Connecticut and Massachusetts in the years since graduation. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Bridgewater State College in 1991. Her responsibilities in the Cape Cod Community College Dental Hygiene Program include teaching pre-clinical/clinical instrumentation and skills to first year students and serving as a clinical tutor to both the first and second year students. |
JoAnn Marshall has a background in dental assisting, graduated from Middlesex Community College with an A.S. degree in Dental Hygiene in 1999, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences/Forsyth. She has experience in general dentistry practices and was a clinical teaching associate at MCPHS before joining the CCCC faculty in the fall of 2008. JoAnn teaches freshmen radiology lab and second year extramural clinic. |
Nancy Shearer graduated from the University of Rhode Island with an Associate degree in Dental Hygiene in 1973 and a Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene in 1977. She began teaching in the Dental Hygiene Program at Cape Cod Community College in 1977 as a part time instructor. In 1981, she graduated with a Masters in Health Education from Bridgewater State College and became a full time instructor teaching Radiology, Nutrition, dental hygiene clinic, and Ethic, Jurisprudence and Practice Management. She is currently the Sophomore Clinic Coordinator and is a member of ADHA, ADEA and is a NERB Examiner. |
Dr. Peter Smith graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy and earned a D.D.S. from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1972. Dr. Smith served as a Captain with the US Army Dental Corps at the Ft. Meade, Maryland U.S. Army Institute of Dental Research (USAIDR) and Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) in the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry from 1972-1974. He is currently a Registered Pharmacist in Massachusetts and has been in private practice in Mashpee since 1974. Dr. Smith has lectured in local anesthesia at CCCC and has held a position of Instructor in Pharmacology in the Dental Hygiene and Nursing programs since 1976. He received the first Outstanding Faculty Award given to a member of the Adjunct Faculty at CCCC. He is a member of ADA, MDS, and CCDDS. |
Brenda Stafford graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at CCCC in 1987 and the CCCC Nursing program in 1994. She began her teaching career at Cape Cod Community College in first year clinic, and currently teaches clinic to second year students. |
Janet Towle is a graduate of The Forsyth Dental Hygiene Program at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with Associate of Science degrees in both Dental Hygiene and Nursing from Northeastern University. Additionally, she holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education from Northeastern University. She has been a full time dental hygiene educator at Forsyth for over 30 years with teaching experience in many areas of the dental hygiene curriculum and received the school's first Outstanding Alumni Award in 2001. Her areas of special competence include freshmen pre-clinic, clinic, instrumentation, special patient care and dental radiography. She joined the Dental Hygiene program at Cape Cod Community College in January of 2005 as the Freshman Clinic Coordinator and teaches several dental hygiene theory and clinical courses. She is a member of ADHA and ADEA. |
Paulette Zaniboni graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at CCCC in 1993 and practices in a general dentistry office. She currently teaches in the second year clinic. |
Victoria Zeglen graduated from the CCCC Dental Hygiene program in 2001 and currently practices in a general dentistry office. Vikki joined the CCCC faculty as an adjunct in the fall of 2008 and teaches in the second year clinic. |
