Social media managers today need to do more than post interesting articles on social sites. They need to build targeted marketing plans that engage their audience while achieving the goals of the businesses and nonprofits they serve. In addition, social media managers need to have a solid working knowledge of the ever changing platforms they use, while monitoring long term trends and other social channels to advise their organizations on future plans.

This is an intensive five week program. Social media managers will refresh their knowledge of the major social platforms, explore newer platforms and discuss how to leverage the current trends for their businesses and nonprofits. Participants will have access to computers during the sessions to explore their sites, share their best practices with others and practice what is covered.

Participants will focus on how to build a social media plan. We will discuss how to target a market, what platforms are right for certain markets and the tools needed to build a plan. Participants are encouraged to bring their upcoming events and programs and even marketing goals to this program. By the end of the program, participants will walk away with a working outline - and will be well on the way to a complete 30 day social media plan.

Mise-en-place means to put in place. Chefs use this concept to prepare for each shift. In this session, we will take the concepts of mise-en-place and apply them to your role in the hospitality industry. Although it seems improbable to put all you must do in a day in its place, this process of preparation, planning and organizing adapted from Dan Charnas’ book Work Clean, will help you feel calmer even on the most hectic day.

The structure of the sessions is unique in that you will be given tools to plan and prepare for a week. You then have the opportunity to put that plan into action. When you return to the second session, we as a team will work together to help each other overcome any obstacles. This interactive process will allow you to practice the process and feel what it is like when all you need to do finds its place.
