Preparing for the CLEP Exams

  • Read the detailed exam description, including the "Knowledge and Skills Required" outline, on the CLEP web site www.collegeboard.com/clep or in the CLEP Official Study Guide.
  • Answer the sample questions in the CLEP Official Study Guide or on the Individual Exam Guides (available for download on above web site).
  • CLEP Official Study Guide is the only official source of information about the computer-based CLEP exams. It contains exam descriptions, test-taking strategies, sample questions and answers for all 34 exams, and general information about credit by examination. The study guide costs 24.95 (plus $5 for shipping and handling).   • CLEP Individual Subject Guides are available for download as PDF's for $10.00 from the CLEP web site, www.collegeboard.com/clep
  • Become familiar with the computer-based format of CLEP exams. The CLEP Sampler may be downloaded for free from the CLEP web site.
  • Study textbooks and other resource materials used in the comparable college course at your school. You may find preparation materials at your college or local library.

 

Repeating Examinations

You may not repeat an examination of the same title within six months of the initial testing date. If you retake the examination within the six-month period, your administration will be considered invalid, and your score will be canceled, and any test fees will be forfeited.
