Re-Tool, Re-Wire, and Re-Inspire
As a tidal wave of baby boomers approach traditional retirement age buoyed by dreams of entrepreneurship, giving back to the community, or, furthering their academic career, community colleges are designing programs tailored to their needs.
Cape Cod Community College (CCCC), aims to assist baby boomers to make the transition smoother and is part of a three-year, nationwide initiative launched by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) with support from The Atlantic Philanthropies, reaching out to students over age 50.
Retool vs. retire. If you cannot retire or choose not to, continuing education at CCCC enables you to hone new skills to stay in the workforce.
Bridge the gap. If you feel the world has changed since the last time you were in a classroom, CCCC can help. Learn new skills or brush up on the subjects you need to understand to stay in high demand.Start the plus 50 slideshow.
New horizons. After years of work experience, you might be ready to strike out on your own. CCCC courses can teach you the entrepreneurial skills to start the business or venture you’ve always dreamed of.
Like-minded communities. At CCCC, building a network of contacts who share your interests and passions is as easy as getting to know your classmates.
Catalyst for social change. CCCC can harness and direct your talents and experiences to pursue service learning and community service opportunities in your courses.
Reinvent yourself. CCCC offers opportunities to study new subjects and explore interests you may never have had an opportunity to learn before.
