Admissions to the Paramedic Program
The Paramedic Certificate program is designed to prepare a person to function in the paramedic role and to take the state certification exam. Employment opportunities include municipal, state and federal agencies, insurance companies, hospitals and various medical offices.
Coursework will include history and physical assessment, pathophysiology, management of shock, cardiac, respiratory, neurological and abdominal emergencies. Students will study assessment and emergency management in obstetrics, gynecology, and trauma in pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatric populations. Throughout the program, students will receive real-world clinical practice in critical care units, operating rooms, emergency departments, renal dialysis centers, labor and delivery units, and psychiatric treatment settings.
Paramedic Information Sessions
Attendance at an information session is required for all applicants to the Paramedic program. The Director of Admissions and the Program Coordinator will share up-to-date information about the program and answer questions about the curriculum, clinical assignments, support services and the admissions process.

Application Procedures
Paramedic applications are processed for the fall semester only.
Applicants must submit the following credentials:
- Submit a college application
- Submit official high school transcript or GED diploma.
- Submit official college/university transcripts from each college attended
- Submit a copy of his/her current Massachusetts EMT license
After acceptance applicants will be required to:
- Pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and SORI (Sexual Offender Record Information) check.
- Meet college and state health compliance standards
- Have proof of malpractice and health insurance, which maybe purchased through Cape Cod Community College
Basic Skills Assessment
All first time Cape Cod Community College students must sit for the Computerized Placement Test. Exceptions are made for students who have successfully completed college level English, reading or mathematics coursework.
Enrollment in the Paramedic I class requires: assessment scores that demonstrate mastery of ENL020 College Reading and Study Skills and MAT020 Pre-Algebra or completion of comparable college work.
