Admissions to the Massage Therapy Program

The Massage Therapy Certificate program includes twenty-nine credits (600 hours) of education in the art and science of massage. A focus is the mind-body connection, and how caring competent touch can promote healing. Graduates are qualified to take the national certification examination. Cape Cod Community College will seek accreditation from the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA).

Massage Therapy Information Sessions

Attendance at an information session is required for all applicants. The Director of Admissions and the Massage Therapy Coordinator will share up-to-date information about the program and answer questions about the curriculum, clinic, support services and the admissions process.

Application Procedures

Massage Therapy applications are accepted for the Fall and Spring semesters. To apply an applicant must:

1. Attend a mandatory information session
2. Complete CCCC Application for Admissions
3. Submit official high school transcript or GED diploma
4. Submit official transcript(s) for all colleges and universities ever attended (if applicable)
5. Submit an essay dealing with a massage you have received and how this service impacted your decision to apply to the Massage Therapy program

Qualifications for Admissions

Satisfactory performance in your most recent educational experience is required and must include:

1. Successful completion of high school biology with lab or BIO105 Survey of Human Anatomy and Physiology or comparable four credit college biology course with lab. A minimum grade of "C" 2.0 is required.
2. Successful completion of MAT020 Prealgebra or a satisfactory score on the mathematics computerized placement test or completion of a comparable course.
3. Students who are required to study developmental education courses should anticipate a longer program of study.

Accepted students must fulfill the following conditions:

• Submit documentation of immunizations required by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Cape Cod Community College.
• Submit a signed and verified Physician's Report of Physical Examination. CCCC Health Services office will forward examination forms to be completed after acceptance.
• Pass a CORI (Criminal Offenders Registry Information) and SORI (Sexual Offenders Registry Information) check.
• Certification in CPR.

Enrolled students must maintain CPR certification. Pass a CORI/SORI check at the beginning of each academic year. Final grades in each course must be at least 75% in class work and in techniques performances in order to continue.
