Admissions to the Nursing Program The Associate Degree in Nursing is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and is approved by the Board of Registration in Nursing of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Nursing program offers a specific sequence of courses that lead to the Associate in Science Degree. Upon successful completion of the degree program, the Chairperson of the Nursing Department will furnish documentation to the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing verifying that a student has met the legal responsibilities to be eligible for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX). Cape Cod Community College Nursing program graduates become licensed as Registered Nurses upon successful completion of the NCLEX. In preparing your application, the Admissions Office and Nursing Department recommend that you review the following information: INFORMATION SESSIONS: Attendance at an information session is strongly encouraged for all applicants to the Nursing program. The Director of Admissions and the Nursing Program Coordinator will be at each session to share up-to-date information about the day, evening and LPN to RN program and to answer questions about the curriculum, clinical assignments, support services and the admissions process. - All sessions begin promptly in the Admissions Office, Nickerson Administration Building, ground floor.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES: - Nursing applications are accepted ONLY for the FALL SEMESTER.
- Each applicant will be evaluated relative to all other applicants in the current pool.
- Applicants MUST submit all of the following items to the Admissions Office:
- Completed Cape Cod Community College Application for Admission and the appropriate application fee by JANUARY 5th*.
- Official high school transcript or GED diploma.
- Official transcript(s) from all colleges or universities ever attended (if applicable).
- A letter and/or resume indicating the reasons for selecting the Nursing program, related experiences, motivation and other pertinent data. Applicants should take this opportunity to provide information covering any special circumstances in their background.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSIONS: Satisfactory performance in the most recent educational experience is required and must include: - Successful completion of Algebra (MAT030 Elementary Algebra or the equivalent).
- Successful completion of (CHM109) Chemistry for the Health Sciences (or an equivalent college/university chemistry course).
- Successful completion of Human Anatomy & Physiology I with a lab (BIO107 or the equivalent).
- Successful completion of (NUR100) Pharmacology Calculations within the last two years.
Nursing applicants with previous college credit may have fulfilled one or more prerequisites at another college or university. Transfer credit may be awarded if official transcripts show equivalent college-level course work required for the Nursing Program, from an accredited college or university, with a grade of C (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better. PREFERRED APPLICANT: - Completed the required science courses.
- Completed the required general education courses i.e., General Psychology, English Composition, Sociology, etc.
- Achieved a high level of academic success.
- Graduated from the CCCC Tri-level Certified Nurse Aide program with a final grade of A and are recommended by the Nurse Aide program Director.
WAITING LIST: When the appropriate number of students have been accepted, the remaining qualified applicants will be placed on the waiting list. Admission will be offered to applicants on the waiting list when an accepted student withdraws or is withdrawn by the Admissions Office. The waiting list is maintained until the first day of the Fall semester, then it will be dissolved.
NURSING CURRICULUM
*It is strongly recommended that students take both ENL102 and COM103.
ASSESSMENT/PLACEMENT: The Basic Skills Assessment is required of all entering students. These examinations help to assess achievement levels in mathematics, writing and reading skills. The test results will assist in placing students into the correct level courses.
