Philip J. Sisson

Academic and Student Affairs
Philip J. Sisson serves as Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. Phil came to Cape Cod Community College with eighteen years of exemplary college leadership in:
- administration and planning
- academic and student affairs program development and evaluation
- fiscal management and resource development
- business and community partnerships
Just prior to accepting the position of Vice President, Phil provided strategic leadership and direction as Dean of the Division of Language and Literature, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Life Fitness at Cape Cod Community College. In a very short period of time, he has earned the respect of various constituencies at the College.
Before joining the Cape Cod Community College family, Phil served at the Community College of Rhode Island in progressively responsible positions. As Dean of the Division of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, he was responsible for supervising, evaluating, and coordinating the division. He was Dean of the Division of Lifelong Learning and Workforce Education where he was responsible for developing, promoting and offering courses, workshops, programs and related activities designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of community, corporate and continuing education clients. As Assistant Dean of the Division of Academic Affairs, Phil was responsible for the administration of college academic programs at the Edward J. Liston Campus and five satellite sites.
While serving Bristol Community College, Phil held the positions of Assistant Dean and Director for the Division of Continuing Education and Community Services. In these roles, he was responsible for developing and administering an array of enrollment management and academic support services for continuing education students as well as the administrative oversight of the college's Community Service campus. He also served as the Director of Advising Services and Freshman Seminar Program at Nichols College with responsibility for coordination of enrollment management and academic support programs.
During his professional career, Phil was an instructor of Speech, Developmental Reading, Study Skills, and Psychology, and led Corporate Training courses at various institutions including Rhode Island College, Bristol Community College, and Nichols College.
The Vice President's professional affiliations include the National Association for Developmental Education, the Association for Continuing Higher Education, the National Academic Advising Association, the American Association for Counseling and Development, the College Board, the Association of College Administration Professionals, and the College Student Educators International.

Vice President Sisson holds a BA (Communication/Theatre/Secondary Education) and a MA (Counseling) from Rhode Island College. He has completed graduate coursework in Educational Leadership at the University of Connecticut/Storrs and has completed the coursework towards an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration at the University of Massachusetts/Boston.
