Dr. Kathleen Schatzberg has served as president of Cape Cod Community College for nine years. Her career includes nearly 30 years as an administrator and faculty member in community colleges in New York and Minnesota, as well as earlier positions as a teacher of English and reading in urban, suburban and rural public secondary schools. She has also worked in the private sector in the fields of market research and microform data storage. |
She currently serves on many boards: Cape Cod Business Roundtable; the Workforce Investment Board, Arts Foundation of Cape Cod; Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation Board; Leadership Council Steering Committee of the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment; and the Pastoral Council of her church. She was the 2004-05 chair of the Massachusetts Community College President's Council and served as co-chair of Governor Romney's Regional Competitiveness Council for the Cape & Islands. She belongs to local chapters of the NAACP, the League of Women Voters, the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, and the Fellowship of Reconciliation. She has a lifelong commitment to human rights and equity work. |
In her leisure time, she enjoys cooking, music, theater, traveling, walking, playing computer games, watching Star Trek and Jeopardy, and of course, reading. Aside from professional publications, she enjoys feminist science fiction and books on spirituality. She relishes driving trips that wander serendipitously on the old 2-lane highways, and of course, walking the beaches of Cape Cod. She lives in Centerville with her dog Ted E. Bear, a "57-varieties" pup. |
