Foundations in Writing & English Composition I

Looking to get your developmental course requirement out of the way and move on to English Comp? Achieve your goal in this intensive paired course. Class meets six hours a week and covers both Foundations in Writing and English Composition I in a single semester. The first part of this course provides a brush up of English grammar, sentence skills, and paragraph writing strategies. In the second half, students write several essays and a research paper. Letter grade / 3 non-degree credits and 3 degree credits.

   

Elementary Algebra & Intermediate Algebra

This accelerated course sequence covers the material from elementary and intermediate algebra in one semester. Students will develop and demonstrate knowledge of basic algebra required for Elementary Statistics, Survey of Mathematics, mathematics for Business and management, and any course in natural Sciences with algebra as a prerequisite. Topics include properties and operations on real numbers, linear equations, ratio and proportion, percents, graphing, linear systems, exponents, polynomial, factoring, rational expressions, roots, quadratic functions, variation, conic sections, and word problem analysis. This course does not satisfy the mathematical general education requirement. Prerequisite: Satisfactory basic skills assessment score. Letter grade or pass/Fail /  6 non-degree credits.
