Dr. Frances-Dee Burlin Office: South 204 Phone: x4334 Email: fburlin@capecod.edu Dr. Burlin is a professor of psychology, Chair of the Social Science Department, and has an active clinical practice in psychology. This past year she was nominated and selected by her colleagues to receive the Excellence in Teaching Award and has also been honored with the Golden Apple Award which is voted by our honor students. Dr. Burlin has been a professor at Syracuse University, SUNY-Albany, U.Mass-Dartmouth, and the University of Vermont. Dr. Burlin's most rewarding teaching experience has been here at Cape Cod Community College. She states "I enjoy so much working with community college students...the diversity in ages and background is both stimulating, challenging, and vital. I learn so much from my students and it is just fun." Jacob B. He won the Nigerian Federal Government scholarship to pursue a Masters degree program at OAU, Nigeria, and later won the Australian Equity and Merit Scholarship Scheme award to pursue a postgraduate course in Australia where he was also a Research Assistant at the National Center for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH), ANU, Canberra. He also was a recipient of the prestigious Population Council Post Doctoral Award to come to the Center for Population and Development Studies at Harvard University. Since moving to the United States, he has been teaching as adjunct at Roxbury Community College, Bridgewater State College and Massasoit Community College before coming to CCCC in 2006, where he now teaches courses in Sociology, Anthropology and Research Methods. His research interest is in household and family dynamics in Africa and research methods. His outside interests include religion, travelling, youth development, bible reading and praying. He currently serves on the leadership of the Deeper Life Bible Church and as a Minister on weekends on voluntary basis.
