Department of Health Sciences

Barbara Murphy, Chairperson

The Department of Health Sciences offers programs of study in Dental Hygiene and Nursing.  In addition, several certificate programs are available.

The Dental Hygiene program provides selected individuals from various experiential and educational backgrounds the opportunity for education in dental hygiene. Graduates are awarded the Associate in Science degree and are eligible for the Dental Hygiene Northeast Regional Board examination and the National Board examination. The Dental Hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.

The Nursing program offers a specific sequence of courses that lead to the Associate in Science degree.  Students who successfully complete the degree program will be eligible to stand for the national Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX). Cape Cod Community College (CCCC) Nursing program graduates become licensed as Registered Nurses upon successful completion of the NCLEX-RN. The Associate in Science degree in Nursing is accredited by the National League for Nursing and is approved by the Board of Registration in Nursing of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Nursing Program also offers an Evening Option and an LPN-to-RN program.

The Department offers a number of Allied Health certificate programs including: Diagnostic Technician, Massage Therapy, Medical Assisting, Paramedic, and Tri-Level Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide.
